Paula Jo Graham, 70, of Glen Mills, PA, died at home on March 10, 2024. Born in Wilmington, DE, to Robert & Lois Varland, she graduated from Brandywine High School and Iowa State University.
After college, she lived and worked in California. In God’s kind providence, a coworker and friend shared Jesus’ message of love and forgiveness with her, and she trusted in the gospel: the good news of God's gift of eternal life through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for those who repent of their sins and believe in him.
Paula returned to the East Coast and earned a certificate in occupational therapy at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked in the western Philadelphia suburbs, including many years at Bryn Mawr Rehab and Paoli Hospital.
After praying she would marry a man “good with wood,” she married master carpenter Paul Graham. Paul built their home in Glen Mills where they raised three sons and lived together for the final thirty-four of thirty-eight years of marriage.
Paula’s sweet and kind spirit exuded the love of Jesus, indelibly impacting her family, friends, patients, and coworkers. In a reflection of Paula’s love and a testament to God’s faithful care for her, her son Tim cared for her during the last five years of her earthly life as she declined with dementia.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jane Kari Varland. She is survived by her husband, her sons Timothy, Robert (Ashley), and Daniel (Rachel), and two granddaughters.
A worship service of praise to God for her life was held at Church of the Saviour in Wayne, PA on March 23 at 10 am. A recording of the service is available along with the program. You can share a message with the family.
